Q. How has globalization help to spread democracy and human rights? How can globalization work against the spread of democracy and human rights?

A. Let's slice this in a two parter. First, Globalization is not proven to spread democracy worldwide. It has essentially given a bigger market for foreign companies to compete with. Consider the example of the manufacturing industry and NAFTA. Once we opened up free trade in North America, it became more cost effective for businesses to reinvest the jobs which were taken over by union employees that demanded higher wages and benefits, compared to prospective employees across the border that did not care too much for these. In terms of democracy, it has not promoted unionization in low-wage countries, and has not done too much to influence the political structure in a country. China can be another example, with the fact that more and… [cont.]

What are the effects of globalization on language?
Q. I need to write a long research paper on the effects of globalization on language. I know the basic stuff like the fact that it is leading to many languages extinction. A. The trajectory of your research will probably touch on many 'negative' effects, like the one you mentioned, and I am sure others will be eager to contribute more. I would like to add a few potentially positive ones as food for thought. There are well over 6,000 languages of the world, many of which currently face extinction at the hands epidemics, malnutrition, poverty, tribal warfare. Globalization aside. On top of this, there are probably tens of thousands more languages that have long become extinct for many of the same reasons as above well before the 19th century, when the modern trend of globalization found its footing. In this context, it is somewhat difficult to defend modern globalization being on the short list of menaces to… [cont.]

How does Globalization affect the problems of water scarcity and gloabl warming?
Q. Globalization both complicates the problems of global warming and water scarcity and offers hope that they can be solved. That is the thesis of a paper i need to write- can anyone help me? I need three elements of globalization and how they link to water scarcity and global warming. eg. globalization increases the spread of technology, which helps countries find solutions to combat global warming etc. Thank you so much. Informed answers would be great- especially if you could tag your source.

A. globalization favors big companies... they produce products in mass, producing wastes and CO2 in concentrated areas. this then causes global warming. the wastes pollutes our air and water. so, globalization helps the economy , but harms the environment, no?

How is globalization related to work and the rights of workers?
Q. Because of globalization, we can t really understand what is going on in one part of the world without looking at how it s related to everything else in the world. How is this concept related to work and the rights of workers?

A. Yes it is , when the working wage in all parts of the world are set to the lowest denominator then world order will be established. When the top group in charge controls the means of production and the lower group is the labor , then a true world order is set . Least until the workers revolt ! True Socialism, in which everyone is truly equal, does not just resemble a prison - it is a prison. It can not exist unless it is surrounded by high walls, by watchtowers and by guard-dogs, for people always want to escape from any socialist regime, just as they do from a prison. If you continue your attempts to establish a model society you will need to build walls around it. You will be forced to do so sooner or later by the flood of refugees..

What are the effects and causes of globalization of the economy?
Q. I am very interested in the subject of globalization. It very obviously affects everyone socially, financially, through industry, and through information. I've found only a few causes/effects of globalization including: - restrictions on free trade - access to markets and their information - trading goods and services with/without taxes - extreme poverty - amount of government control placed on the economy - interaction with people and businesses outside the country Thanks in advance, guys! I appreciate the help. <3

A. Cases could be: a) The need for higher specialization (improved efficiency can be achieved) and capital mobility. b) Product/service differentiation (wider range of prod/serv are available). Effects: a) Hardships in controlling system; b) Crisis in one country affects all countries involved more than "before globalization" (before means 200 years ago) c) Cheaper resources available and better customer satisfaction achieved (or higher profits to companies :D ) - this one might be closer to cases. d) Regarding labor-force, production-lines moving to cheaper labor so some workers loose their jobs and some who less wealthy - benefit.

Will the globalization of businesses lead to a one world government?
Q. I'm taking a Business Ethics and Social Responsibility course at the University of North Texas and we're talking about globalization. There were some pros for it and some cons for it, though, overall, what are your opinions of globalization of businesses? Q. How does Globalization affect the creation of markets? Someone please answer this.
Asked by collisionx47 - Sun Aug 24 19:18:10 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. With globalization, markets become more accessible. As a producer, you now can get information easier than before about what's needed on the market in the world. There are already a lot of portals that provide a seller with that information/ opportunity. Protection on the market (tax, customs etc) have largely been removed/ minimized. This can also means that your product become more competitive.

A. This is a really strange question... How do you estimate the impact of thunder if there is no concept of lightning? The Indian software industry was one of the first to embrace globalization; without it, the BPO industry may or may not have developed the way it did, and software offshoring may or may not have happened. This said, software is far from the only Indian export. Textiles, gems, industrial equipment, chemicals, and leather still remain major Indian exports.

A. Globalization means international trade and multinational businesses. Developing countries are key part of it since globalization often boils down to outsourcing jobs to cheap labor in developing countries. Countries participate by lowering trade barriers (tariffs, quotas or other restriction) and making it easy & safe for foreign businesses to operate in their country. Globalization is a not some kind of higher goal that countries "contribute" to, it's a tool for improving their own economies. Developed countries get cheaper goods, developing countries get jobs, investment, technology. If Jamaica government chooses to stay out of globalization, it is not hurting anybody except their own citizens. If you need a thing, that west "contribu [cont.]
